Antique Wardrobe Project

Here is one of my favorite projects. I found this cabinet in front of a friends home destined for the dump. I could not load it in the truck fast enough! he he he!  I knew I was going to have fun with this and couldn’t wait to get started painting it.

As you can see in the slideshow It started out white already so all I had to do was clean it up make sure the hinges worked and the legs were sound.

Then I lightly sanded the surface so it would hold the paint.

I had a collection of photos I took from my first trip to the Bahamas so I started going through the images to see which one would fit best.

I chose one of my favorites. It is a picture of one of the beach access boardwalks on Great Guana Cay.

Once I decided on the picture all I had to do was sketch out the basic design and then start from the background and work forward.

When the picture was complete I used brown and black stain to give it a subtle aging effect.

Then I sealed it with 2 coats of paste wax.

The cabinet was purchased by Jenny, owner of Juice N Java in Cocoa Beach FL.  It is being used as a display cabinet for her collection of T-shirts for sale.
